Philosophy of Counseling
My philosophy of counseling is grounded in a person-centered approach that emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that each client is the expert of their own story and has the capacity for growth and meaningful change when provided with a supportive therapeutic environment. My role as a counselor is not to lead clients toward my own idea of healing, but to walk alongside them as they explore their experiences, values, strengths, and goals.

Clinical Skills and Theory Development
Throughout my graduate training and clinical experience, I have continued to develop my counseling skills through education, supervision, and specialized training opportunities. I have completed extended training in trauma-informed care and earned my Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) certification. My clinical interests include trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, and supporting clients as they develop greater self-awareness and compassion. I continue to expand my knowledge of evidence-based approaches while maintaining a strong foundation in the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

Research and Scholarly Activity
As a developing counselor, I value the importance of integrating current research and evidence-based practices into clinical work. My graduate education has strengthened my ability to critically evaluate research, explore counseling theories, and apply scholarly knowledge to support ethical and effective client care. I am committed to continued learning and professional development throughout my counseling career.

Professional Service, Leadership, & Advocacy
I believe counselors have an important role in advocating for client well-being, reducing stigma surrounding mental health, and promoting access to supportive services. I strive to approach advocacy through compassion, cultural awareness, and a commitment to understanding the unique experiences of each individual.

Mentorship
Mentorship and supervision are essential parts of my professional development as a counselor. I value learning from experienced clinicians who challenge me to grow, increase self-awareness, and strengthen my clinical skills. I believe continued consultation and collaboration allow counselors to provide more thoughtful and ethical care.

Wellness Plan and Self-Care
I believe personal wellness is essential to providing effective and ethical counseling services. I prioritize self-care by continuing my own counseling journey, engaging in movement through yoga and weightlifting, and maintaining strong friendships and supportive relationships. These practices allow me to remain grounded, present, and connected both personally and professionally.
